Mission and Beliefs
Mission
Supporting children with developmental disabilities and their families to live their best life.
This is accomplished by partnering with caregivers and their child to implement evidence-based strategies that help the child develop new skills that are meaningful and promote participation in life. In addition to helping the child learn new skills, caregivers are active partners in learning and implementing strategies to support their child’s success.
Values and Beliefs
Children grow within the context of a family. The family and home provide the social relationships that support a child’s development and have the greatest impact on a child over the course of their lifetime.
Every child and family is unique, requiring evidence-based strategies to be individualized to meet the need of each child and family in order to be successful.
Supporting children to develop and grow requires a wholistic approach. Children with developmental disabilities have the same basic needs as all other children. In order to help children with unique learning needs to succeed we must consider and address all factors we know to be important for child development. This includes but is not limited to things such as quality sleep, healthy diet, physical activity, and exposure to a wide range of positive developmental learning opportunities.
The role of professionals is to partner with families to help their child succeed. This involves combining the expertise of the professional with the expertise of the caregiver on the unique needs of their child and family to develop goals and programs together.
